Your support makes all the difference. It's been a tumultuous week for Johnny Depp. First, he and partner Amber Heard announced they were to divorce which was followed by the news she had filed a restraining order against the actor.
To make matters worse, his new film Alice Through the Looking Glass is tanking at the box office after just one day of release. The sequel to 2010 Tim Burton film Alice in Wonderland is being beaten by X-Men: Apocalypse which is retaining sales following its release last weekend.
According to Rentrak, the $170 million budgeted film from The Muppets director James Bobin is expected to earn a haul of just $30 million over the Bank Holiday weekend. US Magazine reports that Burton's original took $116 million. Depp reprises his role as the Mad Hatter in the sequel with Mia Wasikowska returning to play the eponymous character.
Heard claimed that the actor was 'violent' towards her and suggested he suffers from alcohol and drug abuse.
'I live in fear that Johnny will return to (our house) unannounced to terrorize me, physically and emotionally,' Heard wrote in a sworn declaration. The two started a relationship after meeting on the set of 2011 film The Rum Diary.
Alice Through the Looking Glass is in cinemas now.
